This stained glass mountain biker was designed and built by special request for a friend that wanted to give an extra special birthday gift to her mountain biker husband. Drawing the pattern turned out to be quite a challenge! I did many versions of the bike angle. She wanted the biker to look as much like her husband as possible. When she brought me a photo of him and we got the physic to be somewhat similar. We tried to personalize it even more by choosing a similar colored helmet and bike shirt and shorts!
I was really happy with the glasses we used as I think as I think the rocks and path and trees all have a nice feel to them and look quite realistic.
Both Spectrum and Wissmach glasses are used in this stained glass window.
Because the pieces are so small in this window I have used the stencil copper foil stained glass technique for the face, helmet, and hands. I talk in more detail about this in my tips and techniques section.
This piece would not be a beginners project as there are many difficult cuts in this stained glass pattern.
I always appreciate the opportunity to design and build stained glass pieces for my local clients.
You can watch a video of the building of this stained glass window in my Video section.
