Okay, so here is my story. I started out as a stained glass artist and I evolved into a stained glass pattern artist.
“It drove me crazy as a stained glass artist that I would buy a great pattern book and in so many cases you could not build the stained glass piece and use it for financial gain”
I respect copyright and artists and the limits put onto patterns, but it didn’t take me long to realize that I had to draw my own stained glass patterns so I could sell my stained glass windows in good conscience.
I think this was the last window I ever drew ‘freehand”. I used graphed paper and many many hours to finalize this piece. Now that I use the Glasseye2000 software, I can set up my grid, measurements and even though it will still take time, I know that the left and the right sides of the pattern will be exact clones of each other.
I have built many stained glass pieces for myself and family and friends long before I started to sell my work.
I have a huge stack of pattern books I purchased from various artists (thank you) and have built frogs and dragons fairies, birds and flowers and with each pattern I used I learned something new.
